Bills and income

Add paychecks on any schedule, bills from weekly to yearly, and one-time items.

Everything on your calendar comes from Bills & income in the app. It has three sections: paychecks, bills and one-time items.

Paychecks

Choose Add a paycheck and enter:

  • Name, for example "Main job".
  • Take-home amount: what you get per payday, after tax and deductions.
  • Schedule: every week, every two weeks, every four weeks, twice a month, every month or one time.
  • Next payday (or the two days of the month, for twice a month).
  • When payday falls on a weekend: choose Paid the Friday before, Paid the Monday after or Paid on the day anyway.

Irregular income

If your pay changes or doesn't follow a schedule, add each expected paycheck as a one time paycheck on the day you expect it. Use a careful estimate. When the money actually arrives, update your balance.

Paycheck limits

Free includes one paycheck. Plus has no limit, so you can add a second job, a partner's pay, benefits or several one-time paychecks.

On Free, you can add other expected money as a one-time item marked Coming in. It's added to your projected balance, but it doesn't count as a payday when safe to spend works out its window.

Bills

Choose Add a bill and enter a name, amount, schedule, due date and category.

Schedules: every week, every two weeks, every month, every three months, every six months, every year or one time.

Categories: housing, utilities, phone & internet, insurance, transport, subscription, childcare, loan, savings transfer and other. Categories are for your overview only. They don't change the math.

If a bill stops, set Last payment (optional) to its final date, for a phone contract or a payment plan that ends.

Free includes up to 8 bills. Plus has no limit.

Bills due on the 29th, 30th or 31st

In months without that day, a monthly bill is placed on the last day of the month.

One-time items

Choose Add a one-time item for a single expense or deposit on a known date: a car repair, a birthday gift, a tax refund. Mark it as Going out or Coming in.

Debts

Debt payments aren't entered as bills. Add your debts in Debt payoff, and their payments appear on the calendar on their due days.

Finding your bills faster

With Plus, you can import a bank statement. The planner looks for recurring paydays, bills and subscriptions in your transactions and suggests them.
