Recovering access

Reset a forgotten password, get a new verification link, and what to do when you're asked to wait.

Reset a password

  1. Open /forgot-password and enter your email address. You'll see the same message whether or not the address has an account.
  2. Open the reset link in the email we send.
  3. Choose a new password of 8 to 128 characters and enter it twice.

Resetting your password signs out all your sessions. Sign in again with the new password.

You can also sign in without your password using Email me a sign-in link on /login, or with a passkey if you added one.

Verification, sign-in and reset links work once and expire. A newer link replaces an older one. If a link doesn't work, request a new one from /forgot-password or /verify-email.

Lost your authenticator app

If you turned on two-factor authentication and lost access to your authenticator app, choose Use a backup code instead when asked for a code, and enter one of the backup codes you saved.

"Too many requests"

Sign-in and recovery forms are rate limited to protect your account. If you see "Too many requests", wait a minute and try again.

Your plan is safe

Recovering your account doesn't touch your plan. It stays in your browser. If you sign in on a different device, unlock your plan with encrypted sync if you turned it on, or restore a backup file there.
